Gloria Lawler, Reference& Instruction Librarian (989-964-7054) Purpose: Saginaw Valley State University's Zahnow Library's Instruction Program is designed to: (1) help students effectively use information resources and systems
Policies: Instruction sessions are provided at the request of any member of the Saginaw Valley State University faculty. One week advanced notice for Basic Instruction and two weeks advanced notice for Advanced Instruction is required, however, it is recommended that sessions be scheduled as far in advance as possible. Instructors are expected to attend the session.
Instruction Options: Library Instruction is provided to serve
Saginaw Valley State University's students and faculty. The descriptions
below are meant as a guide and can be altered. Please call us and
we will be happy to
-Basic Instruction: This session will give students an introduction
to the library and an overview of the resources and services available
for their use. CARDCAT (the library's online catalog), library procedures
and
-Advanced Instruction: This session is designed to give students a
more in-depth orientation to the library. Research Strategy, CARDCAT
(the library's online catalog), electronic and print resources, advanced
searching techniques (Boolean Logic) and evaluation of information will
be discussed. Advanced Instruction can be customized to particular
subjects or assignments. At least two weeks advanced notice is required.
